Events

The Walled Gardens hold a variety of events throughout the year suitable for all age groups. Standard entry fee and opening times applies unless otherwise stated. Please phone 01278 655042 or email [email protected] with your contact details to receive a copy of the 2011 events guide. Saturday 16 April 2011 - Cannington Horticultural Group - April Meeting

Come along to the Cannington Horticultural Group - this month will be a tropical theme.

Cannington Horticultural Group has been formed to share knowledge, information and ideas on horticultural and floristry using the facilities and expertise at Bridgwater College's Cannington Centre.

The group meet every third Saturday of each month for a couple of hours; listen to talks and lectures. Open to all age groups and there are no membership fees - nominal charge for materials or external speakers.

11am  Walk around the glasshouse with Nigel Cox, RHS Course Lecturer

12.30pm Workshop on weaving, plaiting and manupulating palm leaves with Neil Bain, Master Florist

Friday 22 April to Monday 25 April 2011 - Easter Plant Sale

30% off all plants during Easter. The gardens, tea rooms and plant shop are open for Easter including Easter Sunday.

Sunday 15 May - Wedding Fair

10am - 4pm. Free entry. With the beautiful surroundings of the Walled Gardens, the Wedding Fair will provide you a fantastic opportunity to view what many local companies have to offer for your special day. Catwalk show will be held in the historic Clifford Hall, showing not only traditional and modern designs but award winning alternative designs from the fashion students of Bridgwater College. Open to all and entrance is free of charge.

Saturday 21 May & Sunday 22 May 2011 - Somerset Garden Festival

Free entry. Garden trade stalls including Somerset Gardens Trust plant sale on the Sunday. Plant doctor with advice and guidance on any pests or gardening problems you may have.

Saturday 28 - Monday 30 May - Mystical Mind, Body and Spirit Fair

10am - 4pm. Free entry. The first three day mind, body and spirit fair to be held at the beautiful Walled Gardens of Cannington. Over 50 mystical stalls, healers, therapists and readers from all over the country. Talks, workshops and demonstrations in Clifford Hall (additional charge). Suitable for all the family.

Sunday 5 June 2011 - National Gardens Scheme (NGS) Open Day

Gardens are open for charity through the National Gardens Scheme.

Sunday 19 June 2011 - Father's Day

Free entry and free gift for Father's who come along with their child.

Sunday 26 June 2011 - £1 plant sale

Come and see the wide variety of plants the walled gardens, with selected plants for only £1 on this day. The gardens grow about 85% of the plants onsite in the greenhouse.

Saturday 2 July & Sunday 3 July 2011 - Summer Craft Fair

Locally and handmade crafts stalls in the gardens.

Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 July 2011 - Trade Fair

Monday 1 August to Saturday 13 August 2011 - Arts and Crafts in the garden

Music, art and locally handmade crafts in the gardens.

Sunday 14 August 2011 - Open Air Shakespeare

2.30pm Folksy Theatre presents an open-air production of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

Traditionally seen as one of Shakespeare's more romantic and enchanting plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comical yet dark tale, full of confused identities, youthful love, estranged fairies and thespian mechanicals.

Bring along your picnics, blankets and folding chairs and enjoy this truly magical tale, in the beautiful setting of The Walled Gardens of Cannington.

Friday 26 August 2011 - Charterhouse Theatre Company presents Snow White

4pm at The Walled Gardens of Cannington. A fairytale like no other, this heart-warming story of magic, mayhem and mystery will delight and enthral children this summer, and don't forget that everyone is invited to come along to watch in fancy dress and join in with the fairytale parade during the interval - whether seven or seventy!

Adults £12, students and children £8, Families (2 adults and 2 children) £35, parties of 10+ 10% discount.
